(Day 76): James Hardie cladding (external) finished. The cladding is laid vertically instead of laying them horizontal as most do (Metricon charged extra for that). Its looking nice and unique. The cornices in the rooms have been completed. Very soon the work will be stopped for the Xmas and New Year.

James Hardie Matrix cladding.
Thats how it will look after removing scaffolding.

Full front view. The cladding will be painted but I liked this original color. With painting it will look slightly darker.

Back view.

Cladding laid vertically.

The caldding meets the brick work here.
Cladding and full brickworks.

I was worried about the gaps like these inside rooms on the ceiling. But I was told by the site manager - "its normal."

Didn't look normal to me! You can see wool inside.

Well, afer cornices have been put, who can tell what is inside! Beautiful job! The linings are actually joinnts of two plaster boards.

This is where the garage door will be put. Ours will be remote operated garage door. But we will have to wait perhaps until Jan/Feb 2013.

  1. Rockpanel Cladding can also be employed as a repair process for high value parts. Due to the process' metallurgical bond and fully dense coating, worn parts can be built back up using powder or wire of the same composition as the base material. Once clad, the part can be easily returned to its original dimensional requirements through machining. A testament to the process' ability to repair parts to an "as new" condition is illustrated in the fact that one of the main applications in the industry for laser cladding has been the repair of critical jet engine components.
